It's a defense op with limited medical supplies and respawn tickets. Separate from the main force, MASH teams have light helicopters to extract injured soldiers, transport them to the field hospital for treatment, then reinsert them.
Squad level medics have a very limited supply of blood, and the only place to get more is at the field hospital. Note that the crates of blood are too heavy to fit in vehicles and cannot leave the hospital, you must transport wounded there for treatment.
